PODCAST: Adventures, asking for help and trying new things…
Did you catch me on The Tech Show with Mrs Watson on Radio Northumberland the other day?
The Things Caregivers Feel But Rarely Say Out Loud
When caregiving consumes your days, your headspace, and your energy for long enough, it can quietly swallow your sense of self.
When Problems Feel Big, Change The Size Of Your Space
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do when life feels overwhelming isn't to push harder or think longer. It's to simply change your perspective.
You Can't Make Time. But You Can Take It.
Without a time machine, nobody can make time. Not me, not you, not the most organised person you know. But we can take it.
WANT TO SAVOUR THE SUMMER?
It's that beautiful sort of time of year that we fantasised about all year long. Yet when it comes, it can throw us too...
A POLLY PRESCRIPTION FOR: A confident change of career
Career changes are a common theme that comes up in my mental fitness one-to-one sessions. The uncertainty surrounding the desire for a change can be stifling - especially for those facing redundancy.
Packing your team’s mental fitness kitbags
Whilst working with a team, I recently asked what they find helpful to pack in their mental fitness kitbag 🎒 to take care of their mental health in order to be well for work. The response was INCREDIBLE.
A POLLY PRESCRIPTION FOR: A FRAZZLED CEO
Recently, a weary business owner and team leader came to me, in need of some support through a change in their business direction and wanting to rest, recharge and adventure more...
Here’s to the wild, the free, weird and the wonderful…
Here’s to the wild, the free, weird and the wonderful.
To those who ride the waves on their own seas and lose sight of the shore. Who discard the rules, the labels and the chains that once bound them, in search of the truth of their heart.
ARE YOU READY FOR A CAREER ADVENTURE?
Imagine if it was possible to take a new career direction and earn a living doing something you love. Suppose you had the confidence and self-belief to stretch yourself beyond what you thought was possible, through starting or scaling a business. What would that look like for you?
SLEEP FOR MENTAL FITNESS
Sleep issues are incredibly common, affecting approximately 1 in 5 people. Poor sleep can lead to increased stress, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating, making it crucial to prioritise quality rest. The good news is that solutions to improve sleep are within reach.
The Power of Habits: How Routines Shape Mental Fitness
As action-biased humans, we naturally focus on getting things done. When we take purposeful actions repeatedly, they become routines—and over time, those routines evolve into habits. Helpful habits that support our health and happiness play a huge role in boosting mental fitness.
Building Workplace Resilience: Mental Fitness Strategies for Thriving Under Pressure
When task demands are high and your stress vulnerability bucket feels like it’s overspilling, it can be tough to know what to do. My purpose is to help people develop a sense of agency so that, despite tough times, they can bounce forward—not just back…
HEALTH IS THE NEW WEALTH
They say health is the new wealth. I’ve been reflecting on my fitness habits and just how important physical fitness is to me. If you know me, you’ll know I work out—a lot! But when I thought about this more, I zoomed out and looked at fitness as a whole. I remembered there are so many dimensions to being fit that make a huge difference to how we live our lives…
A NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER
If you know me, you’ll know that as a summer baby, the winter months can be such a struggle for me. Maybe this is you too, or perhaps you love the fresh, cold winter months. For some reason, November seems to be the toughest winter month of them all. The autumnal colours have gone, it’s cold, the shorter days are making it harder to get outdoors, and Christmas is far too early to get excited about…
ARE YOU SITTING ON A 3-LEGGED STOOL?
Ever wonder why at times when you feel less resilient and with worries on your mind you can feel like you are ‘having a wobble’
We are all like 3 legged stools - when one leg gets compromised it can create a literal wobble.
MENTAL HEALTH IN THE DARKER MONTHS
Taking care of our mental health is our duty of care to ourselves, a personal responsibility, and part of lifelong learning. Yet, many of us fail to take a preventative approach until faced with challenges and realise that prevention is better than cure.
LET’S PACK YOUR MENTAL FITNESS KITBAG!
To be human means having moments in our lives where things go wrong, life feels tough, and everything can feel like a struggle - this is unavoidable!
Don’t wait for the pants on fire moments to work out how to take care of yourself. Take action - the time is now!
Power up your team
Living life to the full can be enhanced by having a solid team of people who support you and encourage you to reach for the stars. Ensure that you rally people who will help you strengthen your mental fitness, reach out and lend you a helping hand when life becomes challenging and your resilience becomes low. Stay connected with people who will help you look after your mental health and help you live your life's adventure.
The Art of Making Change: Mental Fitness in Action
The art of making change builds skills that strengthen mental fitness. There are many components to change management that need to be understood for this to be possible. Becoming a high performer can happen with solid habits, establishing clear goals, creating a roadmap, choosing a mindset to fuel you forward, and learning to overcome any obstacles faced. We all have the skills to navigate change, albeit fear-provoking at times. This article will enable you to tap into your capacity to manage the art of change with clarity, focus, persistence, and direction.
