ARE YOU THE MASTER OF YOUR TIME?

Are you making the most of your moments? Or are you falling into unproductive, unfulfilling habits?

Our time is a highly valuable resource. Feeling that there just isn’t enough time is a complaint common among my coaching clients.
How many times have you said ‘I need to make time to...’ even though it is an impossible task. We can TAKE it but we can never MAKE it!

In the wise words spoken by Mahatma Gandhi - ‘There is more to life than increasing its speed’. Simply trying to rush and cram more into our days simply isn’t sustainable and we risk pushing ourselves straight into burnout.

TAKE A TIME MOT

Here are some questions to help you take a 'time well-spent' MOT.
Do you:

1. Pace yourself and make time to rest and relax or do you put yourself at risk of burnout?
2. Make time for your fun and enjoyment or do you put others first as this seems selfish?
3. Set time boundaries; say no, not now or not yet, or overstretch and feel stressed as a result?

The key difference between those making the most of their time and those not is the awareness of what you need from the time you have, being boundaried and clear with yourself and those around you.

Simple eh?

The ‘more / less / stop’ method

To help, I've created 3 lists, inspired by the work of Josh Linker, to help you begin to build your awareness of some of the habits and behaviours that could help you to make the most of your precious seconds, minutes and hours.

The ‘MORE’ List

This is the 'what I need more of in my life' list. This could be anything that you desire; more family time, more down, time for an adventure or time to learn a new skill.

The ‘LESS’ List

This is your 'What I need less of in my life'. These may be the habits that hold you back, or uses your resources with little gain. This could include; helping others at the cost of yourself, procrastination, or work. Doing less of these things will create time for the MORE list.

The ‘STOP’ List

This includes the most unproductive activities that do not serve you well and therefore need to stop. Include anything that does not add value or takes your attention and resources with no gain.

TAKING STOCK OF WHERE YOU SPEND YOUR TIME

By working through this simple exercise, we can shine a spotlight on areas of our lives that are holding us back and keeping us stuck. Even small changes can make big impact in improving our mental fitness.

You don’t have to wait for burnout to make a change. You can choose to stop now and move forward with intention.
Let’s talk.
